Headaches and Drama . . .

So right before lunch our local union rep came a knockin. Seems one of my co-workers filed a reverence not against me, but that my position should be union (most likely 700 the editors guild). So what does this mean? Not sure at this point. But:

Worst Case:
Union wants me out to put a Union member in. Very very low possibility here.
Position goes union, but the production can't afford it, position eliminated.
Again very small chance here.

Most likely: per my employers I am part of production and not unionable on this show.
Lots of dumbness to ensue.

Possible: Possible bump in pay, but a more defined role. Meaning I have certain duties that I can do, and many that I can not. Do a number of jobs outside of defined work including scheduling (2nd AD) and some photography work. I suspect these quasi parts of my job could get eliminated. I'll be bored. Ugh.

I'm 99% sure I know who did it too. It's either a someone known for playing games, or it's our ahem, whoes a good friend and probobly thinking this is the right thing to do. I kind of wish they had asked me first.

Fun and frustration

Up until this evening this weekend has been fantastic.
Actually the last few weekends have been fantastic.
But tonight was frustrating.
MAybe too much of a good thing is always going to have a downside.
Actually it always will.
Anyway, fun weekend but a frustrating evening.

Love and Other Drugs

While it was kind of nice to see Anne's rack, this movie was a completely predictable and a bit of a bore.
Edward Zwick should return to his White Man burden of films and leave romantic comedy to those who are at least amusing.

An old reminder

today that is, of why I generally don't get involved with scooter girls.
Way, way too much drama

Twas the Season . . .

This year's Christmas was a mixed bag so to say. Family and friends in Portland was good, riding down the coast of Oregon in a storm was another. Add to it that two packages of crap went missing in the mail right before Xmass hasn't helped. And of course who ever I am dealing with about said missing packages has been less then helpful.

On to the new years!

Hope all is good with you too.

Post Birthday

So my birthday was the other night and I spent that time either at work or trying my hand at some photography in the park with a bunch of strobes. Oddly enough I was happy with the day and night, despite being alone for my big 43 years on this planet.

What is wrong with me?
I've generally not been enjoying being alone a new city as a whole, but their are still too many times that I still prefer to be alone is why I ask.

On another note and another complaint of sorts. I tend be able to paruze the craiglist photo section and found myself very lucky to have quickly found a deal. A 70's era 50mm Summericron (f2.0) collapsible lens for $300. After not hearing back about it yesterday, I gave up on the score, but this morning I got an email back from the person selling it saying it was still for sale. Of course he wanted $400 for it now, so I offered $350 in cash. He emailed back to say OK. The down at this point was that he lives outside of SF, so I'd have to wait till after work to go home and pick my car and drive out to his place. I could smell disaster since no deal is complete till money is exchanged and the product is in your hand and of course at 5pm I got an email saying he sold it for $450 to someone who called him and made him take the extra $100. Thanks buddy, thanks for wasting my time. At least he didn't tell me once I showed up with cash in hand. Ugh.

Other then that, life is fine. My last rowing lesson is tomorrow and i'm looking forward to having my instructor (whoes my mom's age) out paddle me backwards for an hour!

Connections

I was asked this week what was my idea of a connection?

MY answer: Connections for me starts with illicit combination of chemistry and values. They always mix differently for me depending on me and who I'm mixing with, but in the end I want more. Of course too much spark means too much combustion and a quick fire to smoldering err.. OK, no more bad metaphors here. I'll blame them on all the bad food I ate while driving cross country. Anyways, connections do involve some chemistry for me, some shared values, but also some non shared values as it always brings growth and similar thought.

Dating: Yes, been doing it since moving. So far I can't really say I've found the above. Was coming close, but that ended earlier this week. Tried a new bus stop too, and while it was nice it wasn't a romantic type of connection for me. Then again I'm looking for friendship too, so at least I found some that this week.

Anyway, nothing to see or hear here. Move along!
