Photo of the Day: March 30th
I finally got around to finishing up this roll of film I had my Xpan. I shot most the roll over a month ago on a visit to Bodega Bay in Northern California.

Lambretta BBQ
So a few weeks ago I found a complete Lambretta Tv17 engine, a few weeks before hand I had picked up a set of cases, so now that I had a full engine I didn't need the cases. Anyway I posted them for sale and moments later a semi local I knew wanted to buy them and asked me if I wanted to come drop by (with the cases) as well as drop by for a BBQ with a few locals from LAmbretta ClubUSA
Ummm, errr . . . two things.
First up, I spent all of last year taking a big long break from nearly everything scooter related. No riding, no wrenching, no scooter rallies, no scooter related internet traffic either. A complete break. Why? I was super fucking burnt out on everything having to do with scooters. I've been regularlly hitting scooter rallies for about 18 years. My thin times in those years always had to do with school, be it finishing up a BA or my MLS, I'd still make 4 rallies a year, even on those thin years. But last year, zilch.
Second thing . . .Lambretta Club USA
While I wasn't an original member of LCUSA, I was member for about 6-7 years (I think I stared in year 2 and was member 127ish if I remember), and I haven't been a member for about 3-4 years now. Why? It's a headache. It's a headache for me, It's a headache for some of them too. See, for the first 8 or so years of LCUSA the leadership had two jobs, register some place as non-profit, and hold elections. And after 8 years, they had completely failed at both. In my book seriously incompetent shit. And to be honest, being the self-riotous asshole I can be, I was erked about this stupid shit and became pretty vocal about. As such I caused as many headaches as I thought appropriate and had nearly as many given back to me. The whole thing reminded me of why I didn't join any frats in college and why I had kept out of the politics of everyone scooter club I know. It's drama I really don't want, nor is drama I need to be part of inciting. Also add to it an internet stalker from the late BBS days and finally I had enough and simply quite. I've been so much happier ever since. Really I have been. That having been said I know few folks who still see me as one of the bad guys with "their" club. As a now former member now, I don't care. I'm not a member, your drama is your drama now. Don't blame me for any of it at this point. I've had nothing to do with it and that club for years. If you're still butt hurt, that's your problem. Get over it, I sure as fuck did. Despite all of us acting like teenagers, we're actually all adults all. Yep, so going to a BBQ party with the local contingent of these folks was going to be something... err . . . interesting.
First off I emailed the host back, and filled them in on my history with LCUSA. I let him know I didn't want to cause any drama for him or any of his guests. He was OK with it and really didn't care about all that old drama. So I headed across the bay to drop off the cases, get a burger and do a little bit of socializing. No drama, no big deal. Anyway as it was March 1st I loaded up the Nikon S2 with a roll of film and shot a few pictures of the folks along the way. Enjoy.

Picture of the Day: March 3rd
Like a lot of people, I tend to shoot a lot, but am not always that thrilled with the results. So looking over the photos I've taken in the last few months and really not being that thrilled is kind of depressing. So I kept looking. Below is a shot I took right before Xmass as I drove from the Bay area to Crater Lake (it was snowing and impossible to shoot) and then up to Portland. Oh it was also raining part of the way. For any of these types of road trips I have need to get off the main highway every hour or two (because traffic makes me anxious and assholio-ish too) and I find I need to explore a little with the camera.
So anyway, back to the story, I left Crater Lake empty handed and made my way down the Rouge river in Oregon and met up with the 5, which quickly turned into a parking lot. So keep from going batty I left the main freeway and went looking for pictures. I found a this kind of neat gravel pit, that turned into shitty picture, but I also found two goats roaming the property. This is Herb. Actually I don't know who this is, what his/her name really is, but Herb seemed to be a perfect name for him. Anyway, Herb kept a watchful eye on me (as he should) and really this was as close as I dared to approach the poor guy as all really wanted to do was eat grass and not worry about if I was going to steal his soul.
